Jake's Turning 7

Jake will be 7 years old on Monday. Tonight is his 1st ever sleepover party. He is so excited and told me that they are going to stay up all night long and have light saber fights. Lucky me. He's having a Star Wars theme party and I'm so excited because my friend had a Darth Vadar costume that she loaned us so Jason's going to dress up. He will be in shock. I'll blog about the party later.

On another note, Jake comes running in to tell me that Makayla peed outside and I figure he meant she had an accident. I look out the window and she has her pants and panties around her ankles. I ask her if her clothes are wet? She says no. "I peed like the doggy mommy!" I hope the neighbors didn't see although I was glad I didn't have to change peed on clothes. Oh well, kids will be kids.

R.I.P. Rocky

Today we had another casualty. Taylor's fish Rocky pasted away. Today wasn't as traumatic as yesterday, no crying. Just a few words and a quick flush. R.I.P. Rocky.

R.I.P. Little Jarett

So like I said the kids got fish, well this morning we woke up and Jake's fish, "Little Jarett" was no longer with us. He was very upset but I promised him that I wouldn't touch the fish and we would have a funeral when he returned from school. So after school the kids and I and the fish went into the bathroom and I let each of them say something about the fish. Then I explained that with fish we flush them and they go up to heaven. I told them that "Little Jarett" led a great but short life and he knows that Jake took great care of him while he was here. Then Jake burst into tears. He said that the fish probably died because Jake went to school and wasn't there with him yesterday. Poor kid. I calmed him down and then we flushed Little Jarett into toilet heaven. R.I.P.

Catch Up

Wow, I've really been letting the blog go. Time to get back on track. I know I'm leaving out a lot but here is a bit of what's been going on. Makayla is finally potty trained. She is doing a really great job. We are so proud of her. We had another snow day where we actually had snow on the ground, which means no school for 2 days and a delayed opening on the 3rd day. Taylor got her palette expander out of her mouth and is happy to be able to chew gum again. She had an awful rash all over her cheeks and 5 doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with her. After several visits she is diagnosed with Gianotti Crosti Syndrome which is basically a viral infection that came out in rash form on her. She then spreads the virus to Jake and Makayla who get the virus and were throwing up for days (try potty training a kid with the runs). Jake is doing great in school. He just had his 3rd quarter awards and got the math, spelling, and homework awards. We started up the carnival again and had our 1st spot of the season over spring break. The kids loved it and brought home 4 new pets (goldfish). Oh we somehow wind up with another dog, a rottweiler mix named Chopper. Now just a few stories to remember the funny things kids say (the main reason for starting a blog in the 1st place).

1. Taylor Runs Away - One day after telling Taylor to pick her toys up for the hundredth time, she explodes. She says, "That's it! It's the final straw. I'm moving out. I'm going to live with Grandma & Grandpa. I'm never coming back. I'm going to Jersey!" Then she goes upstairs and packs her backpack with her pajamas and stuffed animals and brings them downstairs. I ask her how she is going to get there and she tells us she is going to call Grandpa up to come and get her (he is in NJ at the time). After a long talk she decides to stay.

2. Jake tells me why he is so smart - "Grandpa taught me everything he knows."

3. Taylor on puddle jumping - "Some moms let their kids jump in the puddles when it's raining out and get all muddy. You are not that type of mom." (Next warm rainy day, we are jumping in puddles)

4. Makaya on love - "Do you know who I love? I love Mommy and Daddy and Grandpa and Grandpa and Jake and Taylor and Milo and Chopper and Aunt Evelyn, and Uncle Phil (who she calls Uncle Will), and Aunt Jillian and Uncle Jarett, etc."

5. Jake sets me straight - "Mom, the cotton candy trailer you are working in belonged to Grandpa's mom. You do not own it." (Thanks for clearing that up Jake).

6. Taylor gives me the number list - "1st of all, those are dirty pajamas, 2nd of all, I was putting them in the hamper, and 3rd of all I'm trying to get dressed"

Snow Day - No School

So today was our first snow day of the season. Of course school was called off for the mere ½ inch of snow. The kids were excited to play outside so after breakfast we got all bundled up and headed out. We had a snowball fight and made snow angels. Then Makayla was freezing so I took her in and the other 2 stayed outside. Then the doorbell rang and D and D and their cousin M came over to play outside in the snow. They all had a good time. The good thing about the snow here is that by 2 o’clock it’s all gone. No need to shovel, it’ll melt. I don’t even think we brought our shovels when we moved here. It would be nice to have 1 snowfall where they can go on a sleigh ride but come to think of it I don’t’ we brought our sleds when we moved here either.

I'm Gonna Start A Fight

I’ve been meaning to post this since Halloween time. We are always listening to the radio or my Ipod. I didn’t realize how the kids pick up on the songs I sing so easily. When we were trick or treating this past Halloween, out of no where Taylor starts singing, “Na na na na na na na, I’m gonna start a fight!” If you don’t know, this song is from Pink called “So What”. She sang it with the straightest face. It was so funny. Now Makayla knows how to sing it too. We will be food shopping and the girls start singing, “I just lost my husband I don’t know where he went. I’m gonna drink his money I’m not gonna pay his rent, etc. “They know the whole song. It is hilarious. I’ve been trying to make a video but they seem to get camera shy. Jake and Taylor are now fighting so Na na na na na na na, I’m gonna break up a fight!

Makayla's 3rd Birthday

Makayla celebrated her 3rd birthday on January 14th. I can’t believe she is already 3 years old. It seems like yesterday she was born. We went to lunch at Chic fila and then we had a family party and she picked out a Dora The Explorer cake. She got Barbie’s diamond castle and Smores the pony. In preschool the next day they celebrated with cupcakes and a birthday crown. We are still working on using the potty which is working out for #1 put #2 seems to be harder. She is starting to be more like a little girl and less like a baby each day. Her vocabulary is always impressing us and she loves to entertain us with her singing and her booty dance. I’ll have to capture that on video. Here are some birthday pictures.
